NORRISTOWN, Pa.: Pa. woman in stalking case banned from Twitter - tweet encouraged violence, cutting tires, busting out windows

I cannot believe this. This is only the umpteenth cyberstalking story that I have read about in the last week. This problem has obviously reached epic proportions. At first, I was most disturbed by the amount of young kids who are involved in this phenomenon. Now, I am forced to reevaluate. While, certainly not acceptable by any means, they are kids nonetheless, and are at a stage in life where they are being taught responsibility, morality and ethics.

After reading the above link and many others like it, I am most disturbed by the number of ADULTS who participate in cyberstalking and bullying. After all, it is the adults who are charged with raising the children in the way in which they should go. How can we expect kids to know the way, if our way is crooked and compromised.

To be fair, the woman in the above referenced Miami Herald article was involved in a child custody case. I am sure she was angry, frustrated and hurt but at the very least, she should have been smarter than to tweet threats and encourage others to be violent.

YOUR TURN: What do you think? Are the penalties for cyber bullying too lax or too stiff? Was it fair to ban this woman from twitter?
