19 Year Old Shot in Face While Seeking help after Car Accident

http://news.yahoo.com/protesters-call-justice-porch-killing-171201670.html?.tsrc=lgwn

This is too painful to write about. 19 year old woman shot in face-because she knocked on the door? Wow! Who DOES this, really? There is no way this man was THAT scared. If he is this afraid, you need to move away, WAY away, off to yourself to a place where you NEVER see anyone or hear any noise of any kind. Then he can be as trigger happy as he can be.

This kid was knocking on the door for HELP after being in a car accident. I would like to think that my kid could ask for help if he or she were ever involved in an accident instead of being mistaken for a burglar, rapist....just fill in the blank. This is outrageous. I have been saying for a while now that it appears like it's open season...and I don't mean deer season.

YOUR TURN: How do you feel about this? Could this 54 year old man have truly been fearful for his life? Or did he take the chance to "stand his ground"?

3 dogs, all in terrible shape. What can I say? I have never been one to place animals well being above that of humans. With that said, I DO believe that one should do all one can to care for his or her pets. Otherwise, set them free or call one of the myriad of non-profits for assistance.

Do I think people should be jailed on charges of animal cruelty and abuse if their animals are not cared for? The issue I have with this is due to the fact that there are thousands of hungry and malnourished HUMANS who need our advocacy. Yes, take care of the animals but take care of PEOPLE too, and first, I might add.

In this case, this woman's excuse of not having enough time is, well, inexcusable. It would be one thing if she did not have the funds to have her pets cared for. This I can understand. It is less expensive to take your child to the doctor it seems than to take your pet in to see the vet. Lack of time? This is something that should have been considered when signing up for three dogs.

Still, I don't know if jailing her is the right answer.

YOUR TURN:

Is animal care and safety paramount to that of human beings? What do you think the punishment should be?

No Halloween Candy for Fat Kids says South Dakota Woman

“It takes a village to raise a child” says an anonymous South Dakota woman who has decided to join the war against obesity by singling out kids who SHE deems as overweight. How you ask? By only handing out Halloween treats to "thin" kids. The concerned citizen revealed her plan during an interview on a North Dakota radio show. When asked why she wrote the note, the woman stated that she is disappointed in her village and says she thinks it is irresponsible for parents to send their kids out looking for free candy. She goes on to say, "“My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits,”.

My 2 cents: Wow, lady. I commend your concern for the health of our nation's children but I take issue with the way you choose to do this. In fact, your intention seems rather malicious to me. How are you going to give one child a piece of candy and hand his or her friend/cousin/sibling a fat note? You should be concerned about their emotional well being as well as physical. This is discrimination and abuse. Yes, you have the right to give your candy to whomever you choose but you do not have the right to be mean to children. Oh and did I mention that you won't anonymous once you pass out that first "fat" note? Just a clue in case you hadn't considered this.

Your turn: What's your 2 cents?
